Based on the latest non-fungible token (NFT) project led by House of First and The Painted House, NBA All-Star Bam Adebayo is committed to ensuring that Black people are seen in the tech space, according to a press release.
As a founding collaborator of Black is Beautiful, Adebayo will use the NFT collection to bring awareness to creators of color across the Web3 space, while uplifting and providing them with the resources needed to thrive.
“I’m struck by the historic nature of this new collection, providing an incredible opportunity to feature black art and black life in new ways while ensuring opportunities to support greater diversity and increased representation,” Adebayo said in an official statement.
Adebayo will join an exclusive group of founding collaborators, which include Ja Rule, Ashanti, Deion Sanders, and more. Each plan to use their time, brands, and relationships to provide insight to support and advance the future of tech as the world knows it.
Created by Florida-based artist, Nick Davis, the Black is Beautiful collection provides various depictions of the raw emotions often felt by Black Americans who work to navigate both the joys and struggles of everyday life in this nation.
As the collection prepares to mint on July 14, Black is Beautiful will focus on partnering with numerous Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) plus Black organizations and institutions to receive philanthropic grants.
The grants will be used to provide education, access, and engagement opportunities to Black artists looking to enhance and grow their work across the industry. Additionally, Adebayo will collaborate with the project to spearhead privileges for those who make a purchase from the collection. Those incentives include access to live NFT events during Art Basel Miami, SXSW, and more.
